Topic: “Stop Training Now: Entrepreneurship in the Student’s Mind”
Recent trends in economies bring an inconvenient message: “Make your students learn smarter, not harder” and: “Be aware that acquiring knowledge and skills is no longer sufficient!” Most of the jobs that rely on routine actions have been outsourced. What remains are jobs with a high need for autonomy, creativeness, authenticity and ….. an entrepreneurial mindset. The European Project IV4J (https://iv4j.eu/) recognised this drastic trend and brought solutions. Its main message is to integrate PBL (Problem-Based Learning), even if its scope is pretty focussed. Employers want workers to be active co-creators and be prepared for unforeseen conditions that demand creative solutions. Smart learning needs the whole spectrum of web-based tools: simulations, meta-cognitive reflection tools and continuously screening worldwide MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). It needs to be one’s first nature; Joining web-based communities for keeping up expertise. Search for the best solutions world-wide. This interactive keynote confronts you with mind-boggling questions like “what in essence is learning?” and “how can we overcome spoon-feeding in professional training?” I hope to meet you on July 16 in Amsterdam.
